Couples & Family Counseling
Relationships are complicated. Even with the deepest bonds there are common assumptions, mis-communications, perceived lack of empathy and resistance to compromise. Over time as we change, our relationships do too and they need work in order to maintain connection.
Some couples seek out therapy as a last resort when fighting, mistrust and discord have reached an all time high. At that point all parties feel frustrated, misunderstood and are stuck in their subjective perspectives. In these situations couples counseling offers new methods for engagement, communication, trust and intimacy by looking at each person's felt experience within the safety of the therapy space.
There are other couples who use therapy as a proactive tool in order to help build a stronger foundation, enhance communication skills and learn to work together as a unit. Therapy helps couples weave their lives together more successfully by giving them the tools to take on challenges such as finances, extended family, work life balance, and sexual intimacy.
Regardless of which kind of couple/ family you are, therapy can assist in making connections stronger, enjoyable and more meaningful. You don't have to be a romantic couple to do this work. I've seen many siblings and friends benefit from understanding how they relate to one another and gain insight on how to improve their kinship.
If this resonates please contact me with questions or to schedule a phone consultation. I'd love to hear from you.
