About Batya
I became a therapist because I believe that life is significant. I'm passionate about supporting people in living more fulfilled lives by deepening their capacity for connection. If you've had a hard time in relationships (to yourself or with others), therapy can be a great place to learn about the edges of relating. We will notice together what is working, what isn't and how to create a new experience. I am particularly interested in working with people who feel misunderstood or unimportant.
Using Depth Psychotherapy approaches, we will get to know the map of your thoughts, feelings and internal aspects of being. By dialoguing with the systems that guide you, we will get to know how you came to these ways of being, and attempt to create a new relationship with them. Therapy will be a place where we can look at those aspects of self that often get dismissed or rejected. Your experience will be unique, just like you. To complement my relational psychodynamic approach, I draw on body-based awareness modalities and attachment theories. I acknowledge the limitation of words and often use metaphor, dreams, sand-tray, and creative arts as a way to better understand what is happening for my clients. I am curious about the things that make you who you are; that includes your strengths and joys as well as your challenges and upsets. The wholeness of a person's life experience and background are held as deeply sacred and I welcome with respect all of who you are and how you identify. |
